Coastal Grand Hotel

Brief

The client wanted a business-and-leisure hotel with comfortable rooms, a lively ground floor and banquet spaces that could serve the city.

Challenge

Coastal air is hard on buildings — salt, humidity and wind all shorten the life of materials. The hotel also had to keep guests, events and back-of-house operations running smoothly without crossing paths.

Outcome

We separated the building into a podium for restaurants and banquets and a tower for rooms above, with service routes planned independently. Materials and finishes were chosen with the coastal climate in mind, and the services teams designed systems that are straightforward to maintain. Rooms were fitted out by our interiors team to a consistent standard. The hotel was handed over complete, with one team accountable for design, structure and services. Guest rooms, corridors and banquet halls were mocked up and reviewed with the operator before fit-out began, so the finished hotel matched what was agreed in the drawings and the operator could begin welcoming guests immediately.
